Recently, our class has been talking about where to go for the oncoming autumn trip. Whenever this time comes, it is always difficult to arrive at the final decision, because different people have their own different thoughts as to where to go and at the same time, we have to choose a destination that applies to everyone in the class at the final time. So personally, I find that this kind of process usually takes about a month, though the travel lasts only one or two days. abercrombie

Because we usually stay inside the school during the weekdays, there are only two days for us to relax ourselves, and usually, these short days will mostly be arranged to do many things that we cannot avoid. So when our monitor suggests that we may go outside to have some fun for total two days, we feel excited and also worried, because all the arrangements for that certain two days should be put off or even be canceled. abercrombie

Almost all the people like traveling; at least I think so, though different people have their different ideal places to go. In former times, when I was still very young, my most happy day was when my parents took us to the other places, distant or not, I really don’t mind very much. abercrombie

As years go by, when I have grown up, I find that traveling is actually not what I deemed as before. We have to prepare for all the things we will use during the short period, such as money, clothes, and personal things and so on.

When we at last step on the road at a different land, there are still many things to think about. As is known to everybody, there is a tendency in the travelers to spend money on some useless things that are produced in the traveling spots. One of my friends experienced this when she went outside with her classmates last spring. She bought a pair of Tiffany rings during the traveling; they were not produced in the local area and were very expensive. It was when she returned that she found that she really didn’t wear them.

Grandmother is a ladylike from a noble family. So she grew up with much strict principles or rules that established by her parents. She can be called a polite, neat and graceful woman and is always smiling to people whoever she is talking with. The impression of her on every person she contacts is that she is beautiful and knowledgeable. Grandmother seldom loses her temper to people even to my grandfather.abercrombie

When my mother was young, she also had to adhere to the rules that established by my grandmother. She was enforced to learn many things, such as playing piano, dancing and even learn the rules of etiquette that used in the upper class. Mother also was limited to come back home before nine in the evening every day, no exception. Although mother was not willing to do those things, she could not be against her mother, which maybe was relevant with the education he received at early age.abercrombie

Mother told me the story of the only time grandmother losing her temper to her. It was in the year when my mother was sixteen that she found a pair of beautiful and exquisite earrings in a box which hided under my grandmother’s bed. She was so interested in them that she tried them on, and then went to play with her friends outside. When she came home at the time of having supper, my grandmother saw the earrings mother wearing and suddenly became very angry. She ran to my mother, took the earrings off and said, “You are forbidden to have this supper and go to your room to self-exam.”  Mother was very scared for this was the first time that grandmother punished her and also very grievant that she did not know why grandmother blamed her.

Later grandfather told mother that this was a secret of grandmother. She would tell us when she felt it is the time to do so. Mother had been curious to this secret for many years, but she did not ask grandmother.abercrombie

After hearing this story, I was also very curious to grandmother’s secret. What is different with my mother is that I have not seen the earrings which my mother said that they were the classical product of Tiffany.abercrombie

Last year, my grandmother suffered from brain cancer, before she can not say any word, she congregated us to her bed and finally told the secret to us that the earrings were the Christmas gift her boyfriend sent who was her first and only lover, but he died of an accident in the road to buying the Tiffany earrings that she told him once.

We all said nothing after hearing this secret and became very sad for grandmother.abercrombie
